Kanyakumari is one of the most beautiful places in south India. Kanyakumari is located in southern most tip of India, and the district is Kanyakumari. It is called as " Cape Comorin" during British rule. The name Kanyakumari came from Goddess Kumari Amman and temple is located in seashore. Amman has a shing diamond nose ring and it is visdible even from the sea.

Kanyakumari is surrounded by three ocean bodies (Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian sea) and these three seas can be viewed from one place. Kanyakumari beaches are one of the most beautiful  tourist spots with Multi coloured soft sand.

Devi Kanyakumari Temple

Devi Kanyakumari, is  Shree Bhagavathy in the form of an adolescent girl child. Devi is also known as Shree Baala Bhadra or Shree Baala.


Swamy Vivekananda Rock

The memorial stands on one of two rocks located about 500 meters east off mainland of Vavathurai, India's southern most tip. It was built in 1970 in honour of  Swami Vivekananda  who is said to have attained enlightenment on the rock.


Thiruvalluvar Rock (133 feet)

The Thiruvalluvar statue  is a 133 feet  tall stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and philosopher Tiruvalluvar, author of the Thirukkural.

The statue stands 400 meters from the coastline of Kanyakumari on a small island rock. Ferry service are available from the mainland. The ferry service to Vivekananda Rock Memorial stops for a while at the Thiruvalluvar Statue.


Sunrise, Sunset & Moonrise

Kanyakumari is especially popular in India for its spectacular and unique sunrise and sunset, thanks to its being nearly surrounded by waters. On balmy, full-moon evenings, one can also see the moon-rise and sunset at the same time.


Gandhi Memorial

The Gandhi Memorial has been built on the spot where the urn containing the Mahatma's ashes was kept for public viewing before immersion. Resembling central Indian Hindu temples in form, the memorial was designed in such a way that on Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, 2 October, the first rays of the sun fall on the exact place where his ashes were kept.


Kamarajar Mani Mandapam

Kamarajar Mani Mantapa Monument was raised and dedicated to a freedom fighter and Former Chief minister of Tamil Nadu, President of Indian National Congress, Mr Kamarajar. He's also popularly known as Black Gandhi among the masses. Like the Gandhi Mantapa, this place is where Kamarajar's ashes were kept for the public to pay homage before immersion into the sea.


Vattakottai (18th Century Fort)

Vattakottai Fort commands a picturesque view of both the sea on the one side, and the hill Western Ghats on the other. Another interesting feature near the site is a beach of black sands. It is about 7 km  from Kanyakumari  town.


Suchindrum Temple

Suchindram temple is unique in the whole of India in that it is dedicated to three different deities represented by one image in the sanctum and is called Sthanumalayan (Sthanu-Shiva; Maal-Vishnu and Ayan-Brahma) kovil. The temple is rich in sculpture and architecture and a visitor to this temple is amply rewarded with the sight of such exquisite art of hundreds of years old.


Padmanabhapuram Wooden Palace

This granite palace is a fortress and was the residence of the Travancore rulers. It was constructed around 1601 AD. This palace also has a small museum that contains various artifacts from the older times.


Thirparappu Water Falls

Thirparappu waterfalls is 300 ft feet long and consists of a rocky riverbed. The water falls from a height of nearly 50 ft. The waterfall has flows with great force for around seven months in the whole year.
